  • Winners of the School-gen Super Teacher competition announced

It was no easy task to whittle the 213 teachers nominated in the Genesis School-gen Super Teacher competition down to a short list of six and even harder to pick the top two to win the trip to the Space Exploration Educators Conference in Houston, Texas in 2020.

The winners were: are Penny Chatfield of Te Mata Primary and Bernadette Judeel of Liston College. The runners up are David Van Voorst of Rangiora High, Ben Buckendahl of Cashmere High, Sarah Washbrooke of Remarkables Primary and Nicole Brown of Milford School.

Penny and Bernadette will be blasting off (pun intended) to Houston in February and we are hoping they will share their experience with us via a blog.

Without a doubt we have some extraordinary teachers in New Zealand doing some incredible work to inspire our tamariki to engage in science, technology, engineering and maths.

Thank you to everyone who entered and to all of the amazing Super Teachers out there.

Thanks also to OfficeMax for throwing in two STEM equipment packs for the students at the winning teachers’ schools. There are a lot of happy kids out there now.

The three Genesis School-gen Prize Packs, including a Sphero Bolt have gone to Teri Mitchell, Bella-Ruby Russell and Anuragh Chand.
