Winchester Rural School - 4 kW
Winchester Rural School is a contributing primary with 153 students, situated 20 minutes north of Timaru on State Highway One in beautiful South Canterbury. Our community is comprised of the dairy and agriculture sectors, plus lifestyle and urban families.
Our Mission statement is ‘To prepare our children to walk the world stage.
This exciting initiative means our students will learn how they can contribute to sustaining our environment in the long term by harnessing our natural elements. The solar panels will mean children can see the online, real time power generation, usage and savings the school is making.
We are excited about beginning the Schoolgen journey, and about becoming one of the growing number of South Island schools to install solar panels with the help of Genesis Energy.
We would also like to thank the Temuka-Geraldine Rotary Club for making a generous contribution towards the installation of a 4 kilowatt array of photovoltaic solar panels on our school roof so that we can begin to generate our own renewable electricity from the sun.
