Whangarei Heads Primary School - 2 kW
Whangarei Heads School is located 30km east of Whangarei, nestled on the lower slopes of majestic Mt Manaia in a spectacular setting overlooking the entrance to Whangarei Harbour. Our School was established in 1858 and has a proud history of serving its community well. It serves a supportive and active rural and coastal community.
With a roll that hovers around 115, we are a full primary school, with Years 1 to 8, which adds to our special character.
What makes us so special? Our aim is to develop self managed, independent, motivated learners. We value children's individuality and creativity and view education as holistic. We are focused on making learning authentic and purposeful which motivates our learners. There is a strong environmental and artistic component in the community that is reflected in the school; we take responsibility for nurturing and enhancing our spectacular environment. Our children are encouraged to ask questions and to take action within the local community. We have very professional teachers who believe in encouraging children to take responsibility for their learning. There is also strong commitment from parents and wider community. We are very proud of the recognition we have gained as an Enviroschool.
We are very excited and feel privileged to have been the recipients of the Schoolgen photovoltaic panels; this is an opportunity for our children to learn the importance of energy conservation, and for our school to harness a valuable resource to reduce our costs.
Thank you Genesis Energy!!
