Te Wharekura O Rakaumanga - 5 kW
Twenty solar photovoltaic (pv) panels have been arrayed onto the school roof in a partnership between Te Wharekura O Rakaumangamanga and Genesis Energy's Schoolgen educational programme. the 20 PV panels will generate up to 5 kilowatts of power, which over the course of the year is expected to contribute upwards of 6000 kilowatt-hours of electrical energy per year to the school. Almost all of this solar generated electricity will be consumed immediately within the school and will help ease the schools energy bills.
The Schoolgen Programme helps students and teachers to understand more about electricity and ways in which it can be generated, as well as learning about
global sustainability. As students and their teachers become more aware of how they consume electricity they can focus on reducing their carbon footprint
with energy efficiency in the school and at home.
The interactive graph below shows the electricity generation from the school PV array - you choose how much detail you would like to see. You can also
view the schools electricity imported from the grid in real-time and also see the percentage that solar is providing for any time period selected.
