Raglan Area School - Raglan - 2 kW
Environmental consciousness is one of the things that defines the Raglan community. We as a school are trying our best to have this consciousness flow
throughout our school community also.
Our kura is involved in many environmental initiatives from Year 1-13.
We are also part of the Clean up New Zealand yearly rubbish collection, Coast to Coast, and have attended Enviroschool's Youth Jam. Raglan Area School
is a Silver award Enviroschool. We are also one of the first pilot Enviroschools.
We teach environmental science throughout the school, at all levels, as an integrating strand. A particular challenge for us is to provide a 'standard'
across the full range of schooling, Years 0 - 13.
Gaining these solar panels from Genesis Energy makes us very proud and excited about the learning opportunities that come with it. The resources meet the challenge for a broad platform of education across the whole school. We also see it as a visual way to display our environmental consciousness to the rest of the community. Importantly it models alternatives to our students and community at a time of intense debate around renewable/sustainable energy sources, especially wind farming.
