Awahou School is fantastic rural school located in the very scenic Pohangina Valley—about 15kms north of Ashhurst and about 25 minutes drive from Palmerston North.

Awahou School is a rural full primary school (Year 1-8) and has a roll in the range of 50- 60 students.  Awahou School is set in 2 hectares of well fenced and landscaped ground/sports fields. The school consists of 3 teaching rooms, administration block, community hall, a multi-purpose room (the school lounge), library, swimming pool, tennis court and sports storage room.

The school has a very supportive parent community and is involved in the wider Pohangina Valley community. The Pohangina and Awahou North and South areas are divided by the Pohangina River. Children from both sides of the Pohangina River attend the school
