With the help of Genesis, eight students from Manurewa South Primary in Auckland got the chance to visit Emirates Team New Zealand’s top-secret base in November. Their mission; to learn how innovation is the key to winning the Cup and to document their learning using iPads gifted to their school by the Genesis School-gen Trust.

Prior to the trip, the students researched the America’s Cup, focusing specifically on the innovations that have been made over the last few decades. They also got the opportunity to interview Adrian Robb, an engineer on the Emirates Team New Zealand team. Adrian was able to give the students an insight into the kinds of jobs they could consider if they develop their science, technology, engineering and maths skills.

Using their iPads, the students filmed their interview with Adrian and took pictures and other footage of the base to provide context to their final video, which will be shared with the rest of the school.
