Solar power and weather

Solar power is energy produced using the sun’s heat and light energy. There are two main types of solar power: photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal technology (used to heat hot water). This activity is based around solar PV power which is the most common form of solar power currently used for solar powered lights, toys and small solar appliances. 

In this resource, students will discover what solar power is and how it works using the sun’s energy. They will explore how weather can impact solar power and record their ideas about efficiency and use.
