Rocket Power

Whakarewatanga Tākirirangi

There are four forces that act on an object in flight, weight, lift, thrust and drag. These can be explored using anything that travels through the air, from an aeroplane to a frisbee. Discover the science behind the rocket power in this hands-on learning experience. Using baking soda and vinegar to cause forwards thrust, students can explore how the flight concepts act on their rocket.

Within this resource, students will explore and describe concepts surrounding flight while creating their own rocket for blast off. They will need to design their rocket before making predictions and evaluating the flight process.
