Keeping our classrooms warm

Kia mahana ō tātou akomanga

Heat energy (sometimes referred to as thermal energy) can be transferred between objects, specifically from hot objects to cooler objects. Heat energy is created by the movement of molecules. Typically, the faster the molecules are moving and jiggling around, the hotter the object.

In this resource, students begin to build their understanding of what heat energy is and the meaning between different heat related terms, e.g., hot, warm, cool, cold. Students will explain how we can keep ourselves warm and explore ideas of how we can trap heat in a room.
