Discovering solar PV technology

Hei Tūhara hangarau kōmaru pūhikohiko

There are several factors that can affect the amount of electricity produced by a solar photovoltaic system. The amount of sunlight and the orientation of the panels (direction and tilt angle) are two of these factors.

This resource is a student lead inquiry with four ‘mini’ inquiries that explore general topics of photovoltaic technology. Students are required to read through the student factsheet ‘Renewable Electricity from Solar Photovoltaic Cells’ and answer the questions on the worksheet. Students will explain solar PV technology and recognise the varied uses of electricity generated by solar. This could be competed individually or in small groups with discussion-based learning.
