Tree People
Genesis Energy has launched a new website to help all New Zealanders, and particularly young people, make small changes to reduce their carbon footprints.
Tree People is designed to capture the imagination of children and the interest of adults through an interactive website where you can plant your own virtual native tree, forming a virtual native forest. The site treepeople.co.nz encourages children and adults of New Zealand to make one pledge at a time. The more you do to help the environment, the more your tree will grow.
Teachers can help students adopt a tree and your class can form its own Group. The trees grow according to the owners' commitment - pledges and sponsorships from adults will add metres to trees, to reflect the positive changes they've made to help the environment. A lush tree could get a visit from the rare kokako, which means you've won a prize.
Tree People's not only educational, but also fun. And it only takes a moment to get involved. Get your class started by joining up here.
