Intended Learning Outcomes

The students will be able to:

collate data about the weather over a defined time frame and how much electricity the solar panels generate over the same time frame
analyse the effect of the weather on the amount of solar power generated.

Teaching Rationales

Students learn about the data from the schools solar panels and how weather changes the data. The data tells the students how much electricity the solar panels are generating over a period of time.

Communicating in science Students will build their language and develop their understandings of the many ways the natural world can be represented as they analyse their recorded data and make meaning from it. Participating and contributing Students will relate the data obtained to local weather patterns. Planet Earth and Beyond Earth systems Students will explore and describe weather over a period of time. Astronomical systems Students will share ideas and observations about the weather and its effect on the amount of sunlight available to generate electricity. Physical World Physical inquiry and physics concepts Students will use data to explain the effect of the weather on the output of the solar panels.
2	English	Listening, Reading, and Viewing and Speaking, Writing, and Presenting Ideas Students will show some understanding of ideas contained in observed information and observed data recordings when they consider and describe simple patterns from weather changes and solar outputs.
