Top Schoolgen Schools in 2009
Genesis Energy would like to congratulate the following schools for outstanding contribution and student involvement in the Schoolgen programme for 2009:
- Pukehou School - Hawkes Bay
- Raglan Area School - Raglan
- Mercury Bay Area School - Whitianga
- Clifton Tce Model School - Wellington
- Eastern Hutt School - Upper Hutt, Wellington
- Paraparaumu College - Paraparaumu
- Wadestown School - Wellington
- Forrest Lake School - Hamilton
- Silverdale School - Auckland
Each of these schools was awarded a "Centameter" to further assist the school on its journey towards sustainability. A Centameter is an electronic device that encourages power to be saved by constantly monitoring how much is being used and how much it's costing.
The criteria against which the Schoolgen annual reports were judged were:
- Has the school appointed a lead Schoolgen teacher?
- Is a group of students regularly supported with ongoing learning linked to Schoolgen?
- Have the Schoolgen resources been linked into the school curriculum programme?
- How many teachers are using the resources?
- Has the school created school wide initiatives which embrace solar energy?
- Is the community linked to Schoolgen through the school website, newsletters etc
- Is there evidence of an ongoing commitment to the Schoolgen programme?
- Is this school setting itself up to be a lead school in the Schoolgen programme?
Genesis Energy will be providing greater support and encouragement to teachers and students in 2010 through the Schoolgen Lead School & Team Initiative.
