Westlake Girls High School
Located in Takapuna, Auckland, Westlake Girls High School was the pilot school for Schoolgen. Principal Alison Gernhoefer sees the main benefit of Schoolgen as setting an example for young minds and providing teachers with more tools to use in social studies and science.
"Our students need to be well informed about climate change and renewable energy technologies as they will be the decision makers of the future. Schoolgen provides a way to inform students about these matters so they can make positive changes in the future", says Mrs Gernhoefer.
Through Schoolgen Westlake Girls High School has had 12 solar panels installed on the roof of the S block and has plans to install more solar panels on new school buildings to be built in the future.
