Muritai School

Muritai School

Muritai is a school of 400 students located in the beautiful suburb of Eastbourne in Wellington. We are lucky to have the bush directly behind us and the beach only minutes away. We value and utilise our local environment whenever possible and continue to place a strong emphasis on environmental education and exploration of sustainable initiatives. A big part of our success in attaining the silver enviro-school award has been through our student leadership programme. In 2009 we hope to be awarded the top award of Green-gold. At Muritai we view environmental education as an on going process, with sustainability in mind, caring and leading the way to protect the environment is now a part of everyday life for our students, staff and school community.

Schoolgen is helping us by supporting our goal through providing us with solar panels which will allow students the opportunity to experience first hand sustainable and renewable energy technologies in action. They will monitor energy savings and use the Schoolgen website to support learning opportunities.
