Henderson Valley Primary School
Henderson Valley School is excited about being involved in the Schoolgen Project. As an enviro-school we actively pursue initiatives that support our vision of sustainability. In 2004 our school gained a silver enviro award and we are now striving toward achieving a green-gold award. We want to be a leader in environmental education and are innovative and motivated about developing a school community which instinctively thinks and acts sustainably. We are keen to share our knowledge and understanding with the wider community.
Henderson Valley School is in a semi-rural setting; nestled between farmland and bush at the foot of the Waitakere ranges. We are extremely proud of our school environment and our ‘Green Team’ works hard with all our students and staff to ‘Reduce, Re-use and Recycle’. This year will also see the development of an edible gardens initiative and wetland restoration project. We are busy and proactive and very proud to be working in partnership with Genesis Energy in generating electricity on a renewable basis.
On our school logo is Mokoroa, our taniwha. Mokoroa lives in our school grounds and is our guardian, helping us protect our beautiful environment.
