Schools need to find ways to use energy more effectively as the demands of technology increase and to do this we need to raise the awareness of how energy is generated and used, within both the school and the community around it. In our school we take energy use seriously and so as our technological profile expands, we need to find clever ways to effectively use power.

The first array of solar panels we installed gave us the incentive to look for further energy savings and this made a significant impact upon our electricity usage. With the fall in the cost of solar energy arrays, this seemed a good time to build upon that work, re-energise the school community and install a second system.

We approached Genesis who listened to our suggestions in a very positive way and we set ourselves the target of raising fifty per cent of the cost of the new system. This we did and the new array was installed in June 2013.
