Newlands Intermediate - Wellington City - 4 kw
Nau mai, nau mai, haere mai ki te pae tukutuku School Gen o Te Kura Waenga o Horokiwi.
Newlands Intermediate School is nestled in the northern suburbs of New Zealand’s capital city, Wellington. Intermediate schools are unique to New
Zealand and consist entirely of Year 7 and Year 8 students. At present there are 12 classrooms and 320 students.
Our school provides an environment in which our students develop a sound understanding of themselves as learners and develop learning dispositions, through being given opportunities to be involved in the decision making processes. Becoming a Schoolgen school was driven by our students and provides leadership roles at Newlands Intermediate. By connecting, investigating and questioning global issues, students can make a meaningful contribution to the life of the school. Schoolgen has provided a real platform for our students to discover the importance of saving energy and caring for the local environment.
Newlands Intermediate is committed to the opportunities that becoming a Schoolgen school provides and has pledged that any money saved as a direct result of the photovoltaic panels will be redirected into energy-wise and environmental opportunities for the students of our school.
This graph below is from the amazing new technology being trialed by Schoolgen which shows live solar generation as well as how much electricity the school is using from the grid. To see the other trial school in Wellington see their page Schoolgen profile here.
