About SchoolGen

Teach and Learn

Community and Partnerships

Through Genesis, School-gen has partnerships with a range of other initiatives that aim to energise the minds of young New Zealanders.

Young Enterprise Students

Genesis will be providing one of the challenges to the 80 Young Enterprise students attending the Entrepreneurs in Action weekend in June 2018. The idea is to get these ‘young energy innovators of the future’ to come up with a cool product to help our customers manage their own energy. If we think it’s got ‘legs’, then we’ll put it in front of our customers.

Space and Science Festival

The Space and Science Festival is the ultimate place for kids to kick start a life-long interest in all things science. With heaps of activities, talks and stuff to make and play with over four weekends, the Festival is great for energising minds – young and old!

Taupo for Tomorrow

This is a cool, highly interactive education programme giving teachers and students the chance to get their heads around sustainability from a freshwater resource perspective. It’s what you could call ‘outdoor science’ with teachers either using the online resources or taking their students to the Tongariro National Trout Centre for a real hands-on learning experience. The programme is run as a partnership between Genesis, the Department of Conservation and the National Trout Centre Society.

Whioforever

Genesis has been working alongside the Department of Conservation under the WhioForever programme to protect one of New Zealand’s most endangered and iconic birds, the whio. There’s a heap of science and technology going into protecting these little birds and getting kids learning about it is all part of the plan to ensure they are around for generations to come.
